“Real test for a man is how he lives with himself, alone.”

~ From Rational Male by Rollo Tomassi.

Isolation is powerful when done right. I am a person that values personal time because if you don’t like being alone, how can you add value to your relationships. You must like yourself before liking others.

However, maybe being alone all the time is worse than best.

This week was a little tough for me. All of a sudden on Saturday, I realized that my social life was taking a huge hit. Spending time with strangers and building friendships was something I valued before but didn’t anymore. I don’t know. It just seemed like a waste of time. Maybe I build this horrible habit from spending indoors all the time in Covid.

There is a balance and whether you believe it or not. Wasting time is not a waste of time. You’re gaining energy for your study and work times. Focus is the key. To focus, you need rest times. Your brain is a computer with its heating system. If hot, it’ll burn out.

Except when a computer is turned off, it’s out of power. But, we suffer from various kinds of emotions. A double whammy.

So, instead of working out alone, I ended up workout out with two other gym freaks. Do I know them that well? Absolutely, not. But it was fun. I got to know them. Give people your time, It’s actually beneficial for you as well as them.

Be aware of your mood. My uncle gave me a piece of everlasting advice about life. He said health is your first priority because if your health isn’t well, how can you think, commute, and be human.

If you can’t focus, I’m writing an article about it. So, heads up for that.

Here is an awesome breathing technique for focus by Jim Kwik.

To increase your focus in the middle of a hectic way, use the 4–7–8 breathing technique. This is how it works:

  1. Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound
  2. Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose to a mental count of 4
  3. Hold your breath for a count of 7 Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound to a count of 8
  4. Inhale again and repeat the cycle three more times for a total of four breaths

Try it out now. I am doing it as I write, you feel a little dizzy but you’ll feel more alert.

Love,

Tanyi
